Program Description:
UW-Platteville Education Abroad Petition Process for Approved Participation on a Non-Approved Education Abroad Program

UW-Platteville Education Abroad maintains a strong portfolio of over 500 approved education abroad programs that offer UW-Platteville students a wide variety of options in terms of cost, academic courses, accommodation types, geographic location, and program length. Our portfolio of approved programs aims to offer specialized options for all academic majors and minors represented on the UW-Platteville campus.

Programs currently part of the UW-Platteville Education Abroad approved program portfolio can be found using the online Program Search tool: http://www.uwplatt.studioabroad.com/index.cfm?FuseAction=Programs.AdvancedSearch

If a student is not able to identify a currently approved program offered by a current affiliate (affiliations can be found on our website: http://www.uwplatt.edu/education-abroad/affiliate-programs) that fits their education abroad needs, they:
  1. may participate on the program independently.  If a student participates on a non-approved program, they:
    - do not apply through UW-Platteville Education Abroad and instead apply directly to the program sponsor.
    - do not remain enrolled at UW-Platteville.
    - do not receive resident credit and must transfer their credits back to UW-Platteville after successfully completing their program abroad.
    - must transfer their financial aid from UW-Platteville to the program sponsor.
    - are not eligible for any education abroad scholarships through UW-Platteville.

  2. may petition to participate on the program through UW-Platteville Education Abroad.  The UW-Platteville Education Abroad office will consider petitions to participate on a currently non-approved education abroad program offered by one of our affiliates.  If successful in the petition, the student:
    - applies through UW-Platteville Education Abroad in addition to through the program sponsor.
    - remains enrolled at UW-Platteville.
    - receives resident credit.
    - may continue to use their financial aid through UW-Platteville.
    - is eligible for education abroad scholarships through UW-Platteville.
UW-Platteville students must initiate this petition process prior to applying to any education abroad program that is not in the UW-Platteville Approved Education Abroad program portfolio. Students may not petition to participate on an education abroad program if it is not administered by one our current affiliates.
