About the Program


Hochschule Darmstadt University of Applied Sciences continues to host International Summer University for the summer of 2017, welcoming students from all over the world with a background in Civil Engineering, Architecture, Energy Management, or related disciplines.  The main features of the Energy-Efficient and Sustainable Buildings program includes:
  • enrollment in a state-of-the-art introduction into “Energy-Efficient and Sustainable Buildings“ course which combines ectures and seminars from professors from the Hochschule Darmstadt Department of Civil Engineering with hands-on experience and lectures from practitioners during field trips in Germany. 
  • enrollment in beginning and intermediate German language courses to provide an insight into German life and culture. 
  • Students can receive up to 9 credits for these courses.
  • Explore the state of Hessen, the financial centre of Europe and the origin of many well-known fairy tales 
  • an introduction to German culture, the state of Hessen, and Darmstadt, known as “The City of Science”.
  • Trips to Munich, Stuttgart, and other destinations in southern Germany
  • activities with fellow international participants and German students.

Program Fee

The 2017 International Summer University program fee is €1,990 and includes:
  • Accommodation from July 16 - August 12, 2017
  • Tuition and course related activities including company visits
  • A one-week excursion to Munich and southern Germany

  • Public transportation within Darmstadt

Students will need to pay for the following associated program costs out-of-pocket:
  • Airfare
  • Meals
  • $50 UW-Platteville Education Abroad application fee$50 UW-Platteville Education Abroad non-refundable application fee
  • $550 non-refundable confirmation deposit within two weeks of acceptance
