Program Description:

UW-Platteville Pioneering Abroad Scholarship

***This scholarship is only available to UW-Platteville students***

It is the goal of the UW-Platteville Pioneering Abroad Scholarship to broaden the locations where students choose to study, encourage participation on value-added education abroad programs, and support a diverse range of students who are traditionally underrepresented in education abroad participation at UW-Platteville.

Eligibility

Eligible students must:
  • have a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.25.
  • be a full-time degree-seeking UW-Platteville student in the semester preceding and following the education abroad experience.
  • be accepted into an approved education abroad program (i.e. UW-Platteville Education Abroad, UW-Platteville Exchange, or Affiliate program).
  • participate on an education abroad program for at least one semester.
  • participate on an education abroad program with value-added opportunities (i.e. internship, service learning, volunteer, and/or research opportunities).
  • agree to blog or vlog about their education abroad experience at least once a week in the four weeks leading up to departure, throughout their term abroad, and in the four weeks after their return to the United States.
  • propose and complete a returnee project to help promote education abroad and the UW-Platteville Pioneering Abroad Scholarship in the semester following their education abroad participation.
  • assist in the International Programs Office for a minimum of 10 hours for the semester following their program.
The UW-Platteville Pioneering Abroad Scholarship will be awarded on a competitive basis and the selection committee will most strongly consider students:
  • who are traditionally underrepresented in education abroad participation at UW-Platteville (i.e. students from diverse backgrounds, with disabilities, who are first-generation college students, and/or have underrepresented areas of study)
  • participating on programs in non-traditional countries, especially those outside of Western Europe and Australia.
